It's hard to believe that in 2 weeks we will be leaving Namwianga for our two week trip to Tanzania and Uganda! Time flies so fast! A couple of weeks ago we made a trip up to the northwestern province to visit some missionary families in Mumena. Last weekend, I went on an overnight village church outreach trip to a church a few hours from Kalomo. We arrived Saturday evening and were greeted by about 200 kids. We played and sang with them for a few hours before eating dinner and starting the meeting at about 22:00. The preaching lasted until midnight. It was so much fun to play with the kids! This week has mostly been spent studying and playing with the kids at the havens. Busiku started PT at the clinic this week, so I have been going with her to observe. She is all smiles all the time!

The last few days of September
This week has been pretty normal here with spending most of
my day at the Havens. On Thursday, we weighed the babies at Haven 1 and Richard
had gained 0.5 kg (1.1 lbs)! On Saturday, we went to a gospel meeting/outreach
thing at a church in Kalomo which lasted all day long. We listened to speakers,
had lunch, sang some, listened to Jeremy speak, listened to more people speak,
and then came back to Namwianga. Only a couple of our guys spent the night, and
the preaching and singing went on all night into the early morning hours and
then continued the next day. And Saturday was the 3rd day that this
had been going on. I’m not sure that anybody sleeps here but they still have so
much energy! I’ve been feeling sick the past few days with some sinus
infection/sore throat stuff, but I’m feeling a lot better today and hopefully I
can go to the Havens again tomorrow!

Livingstone Weekend
This past weekend, we went to Livingstone for a weekend
trip. On Friday morning, I canoed down the Zambezi, which is the border between
Zambia and Zimbabwe and saw several hippos, a crocodile, and lots of birds
including a bald eagle. That afternoon, I rode an elephant through the savannah
and got to sit on its leg and feed it. We also saw plenty of baboons and some
lions. The next day, I went with Chris to Livingstone Island and Devil’s pool
which is right on the edge of Victoria Falls. We got to see a beautiful sunset and
hang over the edge of the falls. We’re back at Namwianga now after worshipping
with the Livingstone Central church of Christ on Sunday morning. This week will
be filled with lots of class time, but also lots of time at the Havens!
